four at the zoo

IMG_6250

We went to the zoo and Saturday. It was a really lovely day. Greyson ran himself silly. We rode the train and the carousel. We saw a polar bear, snakes, monkeys, llama, birds, goats and much more. We had a really fun day as a family of four.

Greyson even rode on an elephant...

...well, an elephant statue!

Amelia missed most of the zoo...

...but the fresh air and comfy ride helped her take a wonderful nap.

A Belated Post - PUMPKINS!

So in all the excitement of Little Bird #2 I forgot to post our pumpkin photos.

We took Greyson to the pumpkin patch at Deanna Rose Farmstead a few weeks before Halloween. He had a great time with all the animals and picking out pumpkins.

Let's get this one.

The Stamp Pad Incident

We've been painting and rearranging our office. This meant taking down my cabinet of sewing and crafting supplies. We took it off the wall and layed it on the floor in our bedroom. I thought it was full of ribbon, thread, some stamps and hole punches, so it didn't bother me that Greyson was playing in it - what could he hurt right?

Well, he broke the door and found a stamp pad that I had forgotten all about. A RED Stamp Pad. I turned around to find him with a red face and red hands. There was red ink all over the cabinet and our beige carpet. This was pigment ink so I quickly tossed him in the tub before it could dry. I should have taken a photo first, but I didn't want to risk him having a red face!

Anyway the ink came off of him with some scrubbing and it came out of the carpet with much more scrubbing and lots of carpet cleaner.

I didn't even try to get it off the cabinet since the door had already been broken of with Grey's hulk-like strength.

Winter Zoo Trip - Take Two!

We headed back out to the zoo today, this time with our friends Jill and Ryan and their daughter Anna. Greyson and Anna have an on-again-off-again relationship. Today they were pretty interested in each other.

Greyson was also pretty impressed with baby llama.

A Winter Trip to the Zoo!

It was kind of snowy and cold today, but since we skipped our usual Saturday outing (a trip to the Library and then to the Grocery Store) I felt like we needed to get out of the house for a bit. So we decided to go to the zoo. Our zoo has two indoor exhibit spaces, the "Tropics" and the "Discovery Barn".

We went to the Tropics first where Michael tried to blend in with a White-Cheeked Gibbon.

Then we saw the sweetest Mommy and Baby Monkeys.

They were so sweet to watch. It just reminded me how we are both mammals and what that means. According to the zoo's website the baby was born on "Wednesday, November 4, 2009. A first in the new Tropics exhibit, a new Blue Monkey baby was born to mom Mom, Abby, who came to K.C. from the Omaha Zoo, and Dad, Indigo, who hails from Texas. Abby and Indigo just met this spring and have bonded quite quickly, finally becoming a family in Fall 2009." They were are really sweet family unit.

After the Tropics we headed over to the Discovery Barn where Greyson got to run around. He loved the "Highlighter Monkeys" - sorry I don't remember what they are called...

Greyson and the Monkey share a moment.

Seriously, this Monkey and Greyson played together for a good 15 minutes.

Then Greyson practiced his climbing.

And we finished off the day with several trips down the Froggy Slide. He would not go down on his bum, but loved going down on his tummy.

It was a really nice trip. We had the place almost to ourselves. I can't wait to do it again.
