One year ago today we brought our son home from the NICU. After 51 days of leaving him there every night I was beyond ready to take him home on day 52. At nearly 2 months old Greyson was a stout 6lbs 5oz when we brought him home, nearly double his birth weight (just 3oz shy). I rode in the backseat all the way home, just looking at him - amazed that we could finally be a family under one roof. That day began a marathon of diapers, bottles, screaming, grunting, worry, spit-up and a lot less sleep.
Those first days and months are kind of a blur, probably due to exhaustion. But then it started to get fun. We discovered his funny personality, he stopped crying and spitting up as much and started sleeping a little more. Now he walks around while holding my hands, turns pages of books, babels and laughs and sings little songs to himself.
Tonight we will be celebrating 1 year of our family being together.
Happy Homecoming my sweet, wonderful Greyson.
