separation anxiety?

My independent little boy has suddenly gotten very clingy. He cried until he fell asleep for the babysitter today when he usually gets excited for her to come over. He doesn't want to play on the floor, he just wants to be held.
I wonder if this is separation anxiety kicking in a little late?

Owen has recently gotten very clingy, as well - he cries when I drop him off at daycare (when he hasn't since the first week), and wants to be my constant companion at home. O and Grey are only about a week apart ... must be a little developmental shift going on. It's awfully endearing, even if a little heart-wrenching (and, honestly, sometimes tiring!).

It comes at different ages and stages for every kid. Alex was horrible around 18 months! He cried for a solid 2 hours with Laura, our regular babysitter who he adores!!! I was afraid to take him back but she encourage me to continue to do it, regularly, for short intervals, so he'd grow confident of my return. It worked. In just a couple of weeks, he was ditching me at the door and waving bye bye ready to get rid of mom! You'll find a groove with Greyson too, just remember it's part of his growth. It's a good thing!

Over the last couple of weeks Radar has developed his own unique twist on separation anxiety. He cries if anyone leaves... guy comes to fix the sink - he cries when he leaves... neighbor pops over to say hi - he cries when she leaves. He cries when I leave the room or if his nanny walks into the kitchen and when he's tired, he HAS to be held. Here's hoping this is just a "short phase" in our ever evolving little ones' personalities!
