Beware the house of pestilance!

Well the house of sinus infections.

Last night we broke the rules and let Greyson "sleep" with us and we will do it again tonight. He's sick and I'm sick and it just made since to all snuggle together in one big bed of grossness. Luckily Michael still has functioning sinuses so he's available at 3:30am to fetch cough drops, kleenex, cups of water and to warm up rice packs to stick on our heads. He's also there to hold Greyson while I cough so hard I throw up - seven times. Gross, I know, I'm sorry. To make it even grosser - the only thing I was throwing up was snot. Ah post-nasal-drip - how I hate you!! It's bad enough that you make my life miserable but now you are making my son miserable too.

Poor Greyson is a mess. He just wants to be held. We can't get him to play or eat. He just wants to be held. Thank goodness we still have the Pikkolo! I strapped it on over my pregnant body this afternoon. It wasn't ideal, but it was more comfortable for both of us than just holding him. Then Michael took a turn. In fact he's still wearing him.

I do not know what we would do without this thing!

We've got chicken soup in the crock-pot, humidifiers running and plans to all climb into bed early again tonight. Hopefully we will be better in the morning.

Little Boy - Blue

I just love this photo!
Greyson was sleepy, but not ready for a nap. He walked over the the hiking backpack that we keep in the sun porch and tried to climb in - which did not work out so well. I put him in and he just hung out there as happy as could be for a good 15 min.

I love our porch and from this angle you can't tell that the floor is covered in blankets, grass (from bringing the blankets outside) and toys. Trust me, it's all an illusion!

Hip Hold Bonus Feature!

So we've been using the hip hold a ton lately. It's a great way to carry him and now has an added bonus: I can nurse him on-to-go!

That's right. I can easily nurse him in the carry without anyone knowing! Yesterday I nursed him while waiting for the elevator at the doctor's office after he had his blood drawn. It was easy and comfortable, totally discreet and it calmed my screaming boy right down.
Hands-free breastfeeding = Awesome!

Hip Hold

Today I tried out the Hip Hold with the Pikkolo for the first time. I wore Greyson on the front when he was smaller and I still carry him on my back whenever we go out, but in the house when he just wants to be held, the Hip Hold is great.

It freed up my hands to get the things done I needed to do while still giving him the closeness he was craving this morning - plus it gave me more back support then just holding him.

I love that about "babywearing". I can give him that closeness while still tending to the other tasks at hand. Women have been tying their babies to them for centuries - it just feels right...and how else could we ever get anything done?
