Kids Room Progress

We are making steady progress getting ready for 2 kids! We moved the crib up from the basement on Saturday so Greyson has plenty of time to get used to it being there. Then today I made a matching set of skirts, one for the crib and one for the twin bed. This is something I've wanted to do for awhile. Actually I wanted to make a crib skirt like this for Greyson, but he arrived before I could make it and then it just wasn't a priority.

I've had the fabric and an idea of what I wanted, but when it came down to it I just wasn't sure how to translate my idea to reality. Mainly because I have VERY limited sewing times these days. Then I saw this - great instructions on a NO-SEW crib skirt. So today when Greyson was napping I turned his old curtains (which were bed sheets before they were curtains) into a crib skirt and a bed skirt! It was easy and looks better than I had hoped!

My no-sew crib skirt for baby girl. Yes, I can sew, but NO I didn't want to!
I'm so glad that I bought gender neutral bedding for Greyson, I love it so much I'm happy to be using it again!

I cut out the trees from a blanket then ironed them on. The skirt itself used to be curtains that hung in Greyson's old room and before that they were bedsheets!
Years ago when I found the bedding set on clearance at Pottery Barn there was an extra crib blanket. So I snatched up two of them planning to turn one into a throw pillow or two. That never happened, but today I cut out some of the trees and using iron on adhesive I attached them to the crib skirt.

And a matching bed-skirt for Greyson's bed. No, we don't use a comforter (or top sheet) for him. He hates sleeping with blankets on.
Greyson's bed with new bed skirt. Since his bed is against a wall and has a headboard and foot board I just made 1 panel and velcroed it to the box springs. You can also see the surviving blanket from the set.

Making a room for two!
The room for two is coming together! Once May Baby is born and we have named her we will hang their initials on the wall over the beds.
