This summer we bought Greyson a Learning Tower. It's basically a big, sturdy step-stool and it has been a big hit.

Greyson can help with dishes (aka: play in the sink),

And he can color at the counter while I make dinner,

Or help me make us snacks. (Sadly these "Banana Pockets" were disgusting.)
It's nice that he can be at "adult height" or close to it. He likes it, heck, I liked it. Until he figured out that he push the tower across the room himself to get into things. It is normally kept in near the far window (see coloring photo) but lately he's been pushing it across the room to the fridge so he can play with the magnets. This isn't terrible, but it's not ideal. Other times he pushes the tower to the sink and turns on the water. Messy, but not really bad either.
Today, however, while I was trying to do dishes he pushes the tower up the counter behind me. "Fine." I think and for awhile he is happily playing with a Kleenex box and the Salt and Pepper shakers. Then it gets quite.
Silence is like a blaring alarm to me, nothing good comes from Greyson and silence - nothing. I turn around and come millimeters from being stabbed in the stomach. He had shimmied up on to the tower cross bar (feet in the air) and grabbed a knife from the knife block. Then he stood back up and pointed at me. I think he thought he was giving it to me, but he came really close to "giving it to me". And how do you explain that at the ER? "My 1 year old stabbed me." Yea, like that isn't going to raise some red flags.
Luckily I wasn't stabbed, but just to be safe the Learning Tower is going away for a little while.

oh no!!!! Thats a good reminder about the knifes though!!!
I'm glad you're alright and that Greyson is too. I was just looking at that learning town on the internet, debating whether it was worth it, now I don't know.
He knew it was Halloween- and he was attempting a "trick or treat". : ) I am glad you didn't go to the hospital and had you of had to- you know Dr Amick would have called and vouched for you! : ) Your vacation pictures make me want to buy insurance, or a new family vehicle, etc. You could use those photos to sell me almost anything! : ) Lots of love!!
