Letter to Greyson: 5 months

Greyson-
Today you are five months old and you act like it! Some time last month you decided to "catch-up" with the other kiddos born in December. You hit the growth charts for babies your age, granted you are on the low end (10% for weight, 20% for height and a whopping 40% for head!) but you have never even been on the charts before.

You are babbling more, you love to look at us and the world around you. Your smile is amazing! We are starting to learn little tricks that always make you smile and giggle. Dad's silly faces and voices almost always work. You love to kick and stand up - putting weight on your legs. Your "thunder thighs" amaze me! You have some seriously strong and chubby legs. Of course after all that kicking you did before you were born I'm not really surprised. Uncle Mattie thinks you are a footie player in the making. We'll see.

You've also started teething. Chomping on my fingers is your favorite way to pass the time. And if not my fingers you are sucking and chewing on your own hand, which is how you gave yourself a hickey! You are drooling like you never have before too. I'm excited to see your first little tooth, but it could be months before it finally emerges.

Yesterday you hit another major milestone - you rolled over! So far your rolling only goes from tummy to back, but it is amazing! You've only done it a handful of times, but it is a start. I'm not sure if I am ready for you to be mobile though.

This weekend is the March for Babies walk. We will be going with several of your NICU friends. The plan is to donate $520 or $10 for every day you were in the NICU. I'm so excited that you are healthy enough to participate in this event this year. We've even made a special onesie for you to wear so everyone can know what a special little guy you are!

Greyson, you are one amazing man and in 5 months you have come so far.

all my love,
momma
