A Day in Our Life

Midnight: Greyson wakes up after only sleeping for 2 hours. I change him and warm up a bottle. Michael feeds him while I go back to bed.

3:00am: Greyson starts making noise. He is in his crib in the nursery, but is loud enough that it keeps waking both Michel and I up. So I move to Greyson's room for the rest of the night. I nurse Greyson a little and he goes to sleep. I get up and pump before going back to bed in Greyson's room.

4:45am: Greyson wakes up again, this time actually hungry. I change him, warm up a bottle and feed him. We both go back to sleep.

6:45am: Michael gets up for work. Greyson and I move to our bedroom so I can talk to Michael while he gets ready for work. Greyson and I sleep a little and then I get up to pump.

7:45am: Greyson is a awake and getting a kick out of everything. He is laughing and smiling. I take advantage of his good mood to try to get some things done. I put him in his bouncer in the kitchen and he watches me put a roast in the crock pot for dinner tonight. Then I run down and start a load of diapers.

8:30am: We move back to the office where Greyson plays in his pack'n'play and I eat some breakfast and try to plan our day - I have a long work list to do.

9:00am: Greyson is hungry again so I warm up another bottle and feed him. He appears to be sleepy and only takes 2/3's of his bottle - I put him in his crib.

9:30am: Pumping again - and starting this "A Day in Our Life" post. Greyson has decided he is not sleepy after all and is squawking. But since I'm still pumping and I know he is safe I'm just letting him squawk.

9:45am: I stop pumping early because squawking turned to freaking out. I'm feeding him the rest of his bottle and hoping he'll go to sleep for a little bit.

10:20am: Greyson is finally asleep, I've started the second wash cycle for the diapers and I'm ready to get down to work!

12:15pm: Greyson wakes up, gets changed and fed then goes back to sleep. But not before missing the burp cloth and spittin up on mt shirt.

2:00pm: Finish working on Memos project - which took much longer than expected. Put Greyson down, who slept in my lap while I worked and finally make myself lunch.

2:30pm: Finish lunch, clean up bottle dishes from last night. Run final rinse for diapers. Pump.

3:30pm: Feed Greyson who goes right back to sleep, collect household trash, clean-up from weekend. Since Greyson is still asleep I call a fellow NICU mom (hi Stephanie!) to chat while doing these chores.

4:00pm: The diapers are finally washed and since it is so windy outside I've decided to just put them in the dryer instead of line drying them. Greyson is up again, I change him and as I do this he soaks the "pee cloth" and changing table cover so I have to change all that and his clothes. After he is changed we sit together on the and he goes to sleep again. While sitting on the bed I notice a spider in the comforter. Attempting to kill it is something out oa a sitcom and reminds me how big a wimp I really am!

5:00pm: Greyson is up again, but still has really droopy eyes so I feed him a snack bottle and he falls asleep in my arms. He has been extra sleepy today - he's making up for being awake all day yesterday! On Sunday aside from about a 15min nap he was up for 13 hours straight - considering 4 hours at a time is still a big day for him he has a lot of catching up to do today.

5:30pm: I have time to unpack the diaper bag from the weekend, collect Greyson's laundry and start a load - can't let his soiled clothes sit in the hamper for long! I check on dinner and clean up today's bottle dishes.

6:00pm: Greyson has been sitting on my lap playing with some links when I notice we are damp. I say "we" because he managed to wet through his diaper, his onesie, his romper and my shirt! We were using Happy Heinies and I think I had them set a size too large. I chane him again and change my shirt for the second time today. Michael calls to say he will be late. I sit down to feed Greyson.

6:30pm: Play on Facebook with Greyson asleep on my lap. Apparently I know the Twilight movie better than I thought I did and I don't know Grey's Anatomy as well as I thought - who knew :)

8:30pm: Since 6:30 I have made and eaten dinner, talked with Michael, fed, changed and played with Greyson, pumped, watched How I Met Your Mother and run another load of laundry! Whew.

9:00pm: Read script for work. Michael has Greyson for the evening so I can finish up some chores and get some sleep.

10:15pm: Pack-up script and start folding Greyson's laundry and stuffing inserts in diapers. Decided to try the big liner in one diaper to see if that keeps him drier over night. (Post Script - it did!)

11:00pm: Pump then go to bed!
