Making a difference one step at a time.

In a past life I worked for a not-for-profit that held an annual walk event. Every year I tried to raise some funds, but it was a job and as much as I cared about it - it wasn't a passion. This year I am participating the March of Dimes March for Babies because having healthy happy babies is now a passion!

Too many moms and families know the heartbreak of having a baby born fighting to survive. It was never something I expected to face, but we did. Every day I am thankful for Greyson, thankful that he was born at all, thankful that the hospital had such a wonderful NICU that took such amazing care of him and thankful that after (only) 52 days he could come home happy and healthy. Now I'm trying to give back.

I've joined March for Babies because the March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in our community and across the nation. The money we raise for March for Babies will help:

- support all-important research offering preventions and solutions for babies born too soon or with birth defects
- educate women on things they can do to increase their chances of having a healthy baby
- provide comfort and information to families with a newborn in intensive care (this is where they helped us!)
- push for newborn screening and health insurance for all pregnant women and children

I know times are tough, but instead of a Starbucks tomorrow morning or that new knick-knak you've been eyeing at Target, please donate to this cause. If enough people donate even 2 or 3 dollars it will make a difference! And if you have more than that to give, please do. Do it for my baby, or in appreciation for never needing a NICU because your baby was born healthy. Just click on the big purple box to sponsor us! Thanks!

And for all you OPR NICU moms out there: I've started a Team! Even if you have already signed up you can join our team - OPR NICU SuperBabies!
