thursday

Greyson's doctor gave him the clear to go home on Thursday! He wanted him to have a few extra spell free days before sending him home. Which is okay by me, as long as I have an end date. He's been in the NICU for seven weeks tonight. That is a long time! Thursday will mark 37 weeks gestation. 37 weeks is about the time that if he had been born at he would have been able to come straight home. So really Greyson just spent the last seven weeks doing in the NICU what he would have been doing inside me, had my placenta not bled all over everywhere. (Speaking of that at my last doctors appointment she said that by the time they did the c-section 20% of the placenta had separated from the uterine wall. So its a darn good thing we had him when we did.)

So with Greyson coming home soon I've got a list of things that need to be taken care of ASAP:

  • Dust and wipe down all surfaces with Clorox wipes
  • Vacuum
  • Finish cleaning office (I'm so close to being finished)
  • Clean out and wash car - DONE
  • Install his car seat
  • Organize all the milk in my freezers (I have milk from everyday since 12/18 at home right now - its a lot of milk) - DONE our entire deep freeze is not filled with milk. We should never have to buy formula!
  • Return Library Books - DONE
  • Go to the bank - DONE
  • Pick-up prescription for Greyson (zantac) - DONE
  • Call my Short Term Disability people and my doctors office
  • Check with Greyson's pediatrician about scheduling - DONE we've got an appointment on Monday.
  • Room in with him at the hospital on Wednesday night
  • Realize that after 7 weeks of being a "part-time mom" I'm going to be Greyson's mom around the clock. And that a team of nurses and doctors won't be taking care of him - Michael and I will. I'm a little scared!
I know there is more on the list, but this is a start.

We are bringing my little man home this week! I can't wait to be able to kiss his chubby cheeks whenever I want to!

HOORAY!! It will be tough, adjusting to full-time parenthood. You'll still have tears, countless worries, and innumerable questions. But, before you know it, you will be the experts on Greyson! And you will have had all the cuddles you need to get you through.
