Dear Little Bird-
You could be here in 100 days! This is so amazing to me. It feels like yesterday we found out about you and at the same time it feels like so long ago. Your daddy and I are falling more in love with you every day. Your dad spends lots of time rubbing my belly with a silly smile on his face. I spend so much time with my hands on my tummy feeling you kick and squirm. You are such a little mover! I love feeling you dance around in there, doing karate chops and acrobatics. The only thing is that sometimes you give my intestines a bit of a kick that is surprisingly painful. But I’ll take that pain because it lets me know that you are okay and that all is well.
We’ve all been thinking about names lately. Not just names for you, but names for you to call your grandparents. All for of your grandparents are so excited to meet you.
My mom wants to be called “Bedstemor” or “Bedsta”, which is Danish for grandmother. I imagine it will get corrupted to “Vesta”. I think I’m going to encourage you to call my dad “Poppy”. I’ve always thought that was super cute and can see my dad as your Poppy so easily. For your dad’s mom I think she will be a “Nanna” or “Grandma”. I still need to talk to her about that. Your dad’s dad is a “Gramps” or possibly just “Grandpa”. No matter what you call them they will love and spoil you completely.
Your name has been giving us some trouble. We have a few options; Finnegan, Sullivan and Oliver seem to be the top three – in that order. So you may very well be Finnegan James Perry or Oliver Alden Perry, or something else all together. We have decided to wait until we meet you face to face to give you a name.
I’ve also been thinking about what you will look like. I think you will look like your dad. Straight, dark hair and light eyes with a pointy nose. (I love your dad’s nose, it was one of the first things I noticed about him.) Your dad thinks that you will look more like me. Medium brown, curly hair and dark eyes with a blunt nose. You will probably be a little of both of us. I just hope you have your dad’s teeth – he has great teeth.
But know that it doesn’t really matter what you look like – just that you are happy and healthy. I can’t wait to hold you in my arms and watch you grow.
All my love,
Momma
